The characters are flawed, broken and stumbling their way through the darkness. The vampires are gritty, dark, horrifying and nightmare-inducing. This book has an “epic” feel to it from the very beginning.

The novel’s premise has a similar feel to the movie/novel ‘Interview with a Vampire’ as the narrative is framed by a present-day interview in which Gabriel (the protagonist) is recounting his life story to a vampire.
